Varshphal: Your Yearly Chart Explained

Varshphal, meaning the fruit of the year, is a chart cast for each year of your life. It is read alongside your birth kundali to see what a particular year may bring.

How the yearly chart is made

Each year the Sun returns to the exact degree it held at your birth. A chart cast for that moment is your Varshphal, or yearly chart. The moment falls on or very close to your birthday. This method comes from the Tajik system of Vedic astrology.

What a Varshphal shows

Read with your birth chart

A yearly chart is never read alone. Your birth kundali shows what is promised in your life, and the running dasha shows the broad period you are in. The Varshphal adds detail on timing within one year, together with the transits of the planets.

Common questions

Does the year start exactly on my birthday?

It starts at the moment the Sun returns to its birth degree. This can be a day before or after your birthday, depending on the year and time zone.

Do I need my exact birth time?

Yes. The exact birth time fixes the Sun’s degree and the Lagna, and both shape the yearly chart.

Is a Varshphal the same as a yearly horoscope in a newspaper?

No. A newspaper horoscope is the same for everyone of one sign. A Varshphal is cast from your own birth details and is personal to you.
